Do We Need Social Media?
The question that everyone is wondering is… is social media a need for this generation or is it just something that all kids want to have? First off, here are some cons about social media. Studies have shown that social media can cause many mental illnesses such as anxiety, stress, depression, and it can have a negative effect on body image. Not to mention that social media has been the main source of cyberbullying which also changes kids’ mental health for the worst. Finally so many teens become addicted to social media which causes them to lose sleep, which can create problems of its own.
Next are the pros of social media. Firstly, with the pandemic, teens now are not traveling and seeing people, so social media is allowing teens to connect with people from the comfort of their home, and social media keeps kids involved with the news that's going on in today's world. Next social media can spread awareness for different causes all around the world and help people in need spread the word about the importance of different causes.
Finally, I believe that social media can help teens in some ways but not all. I do agree that we need social media, but too much can cause problems that can be easily prevented by just disconnecting. So, we just need to learn to not extend the limits of social media, but some social media couldn't be a bad thing.
