The Sunshine Girl Series by Rebecca Krug
The Sunshine Girl series is a book series of 3 books written by Paige McKenzie with Alyssa Sheinmel. The first book is titled The Haunting of Sunshine Girl, and it is about a girl named Sunshine Griffith who recently turned 16 years old. Shortly after her birthday, she moves away from her home in Austin, Texas, with her mother to their new home in Ridgemont, Washington. A little while after they arrive, Sunshine starts to notice paranormal activities. At first, she thinks it’s just the house and confides in her mother. Her mother tells her it’s nothing and moves on. Sunshine doesn’t believe that it’s nothing and continues to notice strange things going on around her. When she starts school, she meets a guy named Nolan Foster. Nolan loves paranormal stuff and decides to help Sunshine out. Upon their research, Sunshine and Nolan discover that Sunshine is a luiseach.
This series is my favorite because it just completely captured my imagination. I first discovered this series about 6 years ago when I was in 7th grade. Mrs. Previte was the English teacher at the time, and we had to do AR reading for the class. I’m pretty sure the book was one that she had on her shelf while I was looking for a book to read. When I saw the title of the book, I was immediately intrigued. Usually when I read books, it takes me a while to get through it. I remember reading the first few pages, and I was already so into this book. I read the entire thing within such a short amount of time that it even shocked me. At the time I hadn’t known it was a series, and I only read the first book.
I talked about this book all the time because it meant so much to me. I hadn’t had a chance to read it again since I didn’t own the book, until last Christmas. Last Christmas, my boyfriend got the book for me. I had completely forgotten that I had told him about it over a year prior to him getting it for me. I was so excited that I was finally able to read it again. I read the book the entire way, and was upset at the cliffhanger at the end. I thought it was odd to leave it the way they did, so I looked into it. Upon doing so, I finally discovered that it was a series. I was so excited that there was more for me to read, so I ended up ordering myself the next 2 books. Reading these books honestly were some of my favorite experiences ever. When I find a book that I like, I’m really able to get into it. I strongly recommend this book to everyone, and I hope you like it just as much as I do!
