Enjoy some live music

and support your school at the same time!

Our Friends of Little Green have been busy working hard to make the school an even better place for the children and the community. THANK YOU!

Band Night: FOLG have jumped at the opportunity to welcome the Four Horseman to deliver a live music event at the school and also sell the remaining bar stock from the summer fair. Please do consider grabbing a ticket, enjoying a live music experience and supporting the school:

FOLG's successes last year will be funding a final set of Chromebooks to give us one set per Year group and further support our digital learning - see the learning Journal developments either in your child's Google Classroom Learning Journal or below as one example.  They are also funding new headphones and considering how best to support gazebo renovations and a new light and sound system for the hall. Finally, they are currently identifying a WOW experience for all the children watch this space! Thank you FOLG!

Upcoming events: include Band Night, School Disco, Elfridges and Sponsored Woodland run is in development. FOLG continue to sell Stationary sets and second hand uniform; run a 50/50 lottery; and are also identifying opportunities for a Mother/Father/Special Person Day sale. See the FOLG section below for details.

FOLG support: If you ever feel you could support FOLG with any of these ideas or joining a specific working party around an event (Summer Fair planning will be starting soonish!) - do email them: FOLG@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk

Thank you again to all of the parents that manage to find the time to make a difference.

Watford Foodbank - Thank you!

After weighing all the donations at the food bank, it was calculated we managed to donate 105.8kg of food to Watford Food Bank!

Thank you so much for all your support. It has been a wonderful experience for Stanley, one I’m sure he will never forget. It’s a fantastic way of showing him how a thought can be put into action.

Attached are some pictures for you…

Warmest Regards,

Mr and Mrs Goodman

Small acts of kindness

Charlotte in 4H helped her mum pack over 100 Information Packs with more packing days to come. Below are the official words about what the charity do and the intent is to advertise their volunteer days to pack their Warm in Winter Gift Bags.

Small Acts of Kindness is a registered charity aiming to reduce isolation and loneliness for older people by connecting communities with kindness. With a special interest in helping those who are cold in their homes, they source, pack and distribute Warm in Winter gift bags. These contain essential, practical keep warm items as well as a Purple Pages Information Pack full of literature that signposts older people to relevant activities and services. They also work with other organisations to provide Christmas boxes and gifts for those who will be on their own. Gift bags are distributed FREE OF CHARGE to anyone aged over 55 living in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

If you are able to spare a couple of hours, volunteers are required to help pack both the Winter Bags and Information Packs. For more information visit our website www.smallactsofkindness.co.uk/warm-in-winter-packing-days

Learning Journals

We are delighted to share our plans for developing an interactive Learning Journal and Pupil Profile plan for all children at Little Green. The journal will capture children's learning achievements and thoughts about learning, offering a reflective space to positively consider next steps and also celebrate achievements - we aim for this to include videos and pictures of learning as we develop the process. These journals will be held in the children's Google Drive so will be available to parents and children to look at and discuss.

Author Visit: Andy Griffiths!

On TUESDAY 11th OCTOBER, we are delighted to be welcoming best-selling author ANDY GRIFFITHS to the school. Children might recognise him from the hugely popular ‘Treehouse’ series of books (which is on our Reading Spine!).

To pre-order any copies of the books, ready to be signed and dedicated at  school on the day, please click the link below and place your order through  Chiltern Bookshops by 5pm, Monday 10th October:

Stationery sets

Thank you to everyone who ordered stationery sets - it was the first time FOLG had tried this and it seemed to go relatively smoothly. All packs should have now been received by those who placed orders.

If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.

Second hand uniform

Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via  folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
