Sharing our Talents
In assembly this week I shared the fourth option for how we can build success (as I am sure you will have worked out) it was all working together to have even bigger successes. I shared a picture of the a teacher team working late in September to develop the Curriculum Maps as a brilliant example.
Thank you to everyopne that was able to attend parent's evenings virtual or in real life. We do value our partnership and look at all of your feedback. Please complete the autumn term survey when you get a moment: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LittleGreenParentsAutumn2022
We have had a very positive first half term and I thank everyone for working together to build our success. Next half term will be full of Christmas wonder; Student and Eco Council Forums and a whole lot more.
Have a happy and safe half term!
We trialed our first parent workshop with Year 3 on Tuesday. There was an incredible turn out (67 parents!) and a very positive feedback to the usefulness and positivity of the morning from parents, staff and children! We are planning for similar workshops for the other years alongside opening up some of the Explorer Afternoons.
We aim to plan this and give you a significant amount of notice so that even working parents, with notice, will be able to attend some of the events and see the 'living school' to really get a feel for the learning culture and community we are all working hard in developing.
Again, let us know how things have gone so far this term in the Parent Survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LittleGreenParentsAutumn2022
ln June year 3 planted a pumpkin seed each, Joah from Miss Muckell’s class planted a seed in our school garden and we managed to grow a beautiful Green pumpkin.
It was a pleasure to present Stanley with the Watford Food bank Certificate of appreciation for his hard work in organising all of us to donate 105 Kg of resources! Well done to Stanley and everyone involved.
It was also a pleasure to celebrate Jopah's pumpkin. He wondered what would happen if he planted it in the garden patch - and then he went to the effort to find out!
Look what we can do with an idea if we all work together to put the effort in! Well done Joah (and Mrs Cleary who plans to carve Joah's pumpkin in time for Halloween!)
Let us know what you think on the Parent Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LittleGreenParentsAutumn2022
Parent Survey OUT NOW and Feedback - Summer
I copy the notes from last weeks Newsweb and politelty remind you that the survey is live for this half-term - Please let us know what you think! https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LittleGreenParentsAutumn2022
As we look forward to welcoming you to the school or virtually for parental consultations, it is also the time of year when we ask for your views on what is working well and what could be better. We pride ourselves on our transparency and willingness to reflect on reasonable feedback. Like everyone, we know we get things wrong and we are always keen to learn from our mistakes and develop systems to make things better. Thank you to everyone who shared their views in July. There were a lot of positives - the vast majority of parents who responded feel their children are safe, and learning effectively. Nevertheless, there was an increase in some disagree statements that, whilst relatively low, do make us ask questions about our practice. We acknowledge and address these below:
-12 respondents (clustered to specific classes) did not agree that there was a good standard of behaviour at Little Green
We had a challenging time managing behaviour whilst working within bubbles. Whilst we believe our systems were working, we also knew they were limited due to covid bubbles and the availability of extra support. From May half-term we were able to launch the Ready to Learn Room for all children - a space to offer support for children struggling to regulate their behaviour away from their peers. We believe the impact of this support has been incredibly positive for those children and the whole school community. Let us know what you think in the survey!
- 25 respondents (clustered to specific classes) did not believe their children had been well taught.
As a school we work hard to ensure that all children receive an equitable high quality of teaching across their four years with us. Like all industries and professions, we have a range of staff with a range of experience and skills. Supporting this reality has been made more challenging by Covid bubbles; the teacher recruitment crisis and very sadly for Little Green, some challenging and unpredictable long staff absences. Please be assured that we work hard to minimise the impacts of these challenges whilst also recognising this impact and ensuring that future staffing decisions reflect these unavoidable experiences. We have also driven a further collaborative development to our CPD approach which is seeing significant collaboration and professional development! We hope that is your experience also - do let us know in the survey!
In short, please do let us know if you agree with these assessments or if we are missing something - (New survey next week!) - we all want the same thing: the best possible learning experience for our children and community!
Yours sincerely,
Mr Roberts and the Little Green Team
We've had a few football friendlies this term and what marked them out for me was the continued and increasing level of positive support the parents and school have shown their friends. Some very positive and supportive supporters promoting children trying their best and playing hard but fair. Well done everyone!
We are delighted that, due to the success of our Breakfast and After School Clubs and some internal promotions, we have some vacancies available. Please do look at the teachinherts website for more information.
