Working Together
Today's Newsweb is a celebration and demonstration of the power of working together.
From Year 3 to Year 6, Student Cabinet to Litter Pickers, Push ball and Key Stage 2 Football to Locker installations, the common factor in all of our wins has been the collaboration and community spirit driving our children to be even better.
I regularly share the uniqueness of Little Green and the wider local schools and community with pending parents and students. We are so lucky to be in such a supportive community, full of people willing and able to work with others, to try new things, to compromise, to listen to everyone, to accept mistakes. This is what makes us special and, as you will see below, so successful...
Thank you to everyone who supports the school to do the right thing for ALL of the children and our community! Here is 30 seconds of Pushball action from the final on Saturday - congratulations to Year 3 - Pushball champions!
Parent Governor Opportunity notice:
Next term, there will be two parent governor elections. If you would like to help us to work together, and to find out more about the opportunity, please contact our Chair of Governors, Chris Lloyd.

We will send out more details in the Autumn Term.
We have the pleasure and responsibility, in partnership with local schools and Three Rivers District Council, of bringing together local school councils and parliaments. Each year we set a project or idea in motion and then leave it to the school councils to make a difference! This year, Mr Flint lead on Project STREAM - pushing the idea of celebrating creativity and collaboration across the curriculum.
On Wednesday, we met with local schools and district councillors to share our successes and learn from each other. Mr Hyde supported the Student Parliament to create a display sharing the two projects they are most proud of - their Tate Art Gallery Learning and their Year 6 locker project. Each of the schools were able to then learn from other schools and then decide on their favourite project and vote democratically. On this occasion, it was a proud moment to see the Year 6 Cabinet awarded with the Project of the Year trophy. Well done to Mr Flint, Mr Hyde, the Student Cabinet, Student Parliament and the whole school community! It is lovely to see the effects of these collaborative positive mindsets!

Our Key Stage 2 girls' football team continue to scour Ikea catalogues for larger and larger trophy cabinets!
At the Sports Awards on Monday, a celebration of sporting achievements across almost one hundred local schools, they were recognised as...
Key Stage 2 Team of the Year!
This significant success and plaudit is entirely deserved due to the girls' incredible achievements, commitments and determination. At Little Green, we are not short of hard working and driven role models achieving success. The girls' football team are some of our best. A huge congratulations and thank you!
TRIPLE Year 3 Push Ball Champions -Revels 2023!
The Revels is a 'not to be missed' Croxley Community event organised by an incredible group of volunteers. (Thank you!) Croxley is a community of doers and this collaboration and working together benefits us all. Working together was clearly evident in all of the local schools' incredible team working and partnerships at the Pushball tournament. On this occasion, Little Green's efforts, practice and desire was enough to take them to the final where they triumphed 5-3. a great community event, a great effort by our Push-ballers... Pushball Champions 2023!
Doodle Commitment and Success!
Sometimes partnerships and hard work are not obvious or visible. Miss Tarbox has worked relentlessly behind the scenes to promote and drive our commitment to regularly engaging children in mathematic practice and thinking. Doodle offers us all the opportunity to ensure our children are regularly practising their maths skills. Only with practice can we embed their mathematical learning and succeed. In Year 6, children were required to maintain the green zone (practising for 5 minutes at least once a day) or they were supported at playtime to achieve this! It is early days, but the opportunity for supporting children and families with regular Doodle practice would appear to be a significant tool in our drive to develop effective learners. One amazing role model in this challenge is Oscar who achieved a 50 day streak on doodle. Amazing job Oscar!
Tag Rugby Tournament Champions!
Congratulations to our Year 6 Tag Rugby Team who came away with the trophy at our recent partnership rugby event. Effort, endeavour, commitment, enthusiasm, team work: so many traits have supported this achievement. We are all very proud!
Litter Picking
A community responsibility
I was very proud of the litter picking competition set up by Isley and Jessica following the circus. The school and surrounding area were picked clean! This makes this news a little more disappointing: we do seem to have an issue with some children choosing to drop litter rather than take it home. This can be damaging for wildlife and unpleasant for everyone in the community. Frank and Naylor were so surprised with the litter they discovered that they immediately came to me to share the news. Great disappointed faces in the picture too! Please work together to keep rubbish off the floor and dispose of it considerately!
FOLG second-hand sports kit marketplace
Stationery sets
Save yourself the summer stationery shopping stress and buy now! Sourced by Mr Flint so all of the equipment in the packs is school approved!
The flash sale price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £10 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. The pack contains 2 writing pens, a green pen, 2 HB pencils, a pair of scissors (you can specify right or left handed), Pritt Stick, eraser, Boogie sharpener, 30 cm ruler, whiteboard pen, highlighter all contained in a clear pencil case. These can then be sent straight to your child's classroom or be held at the school office for you to pick up.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
