In loving memory

The Little Green Family share in the Country's grief with the passing of our Queen. We will be joining the Country in a range of reflections and celebrations in the coming days and we will keep you informed as more national arrangements are shared.  Today the children watched the Newsround clip and were able to talk about their feelings in class, being mindful of the impact this event may have on some children who have experienced loss recently. On Monday, we will be having a shared moment of reflection in our whole school assembly.

IDEAS

It is a pleasure to welcome you all back to the Little Green Community. We have a lot of exciting plans and ideas. In fact, the theme of my assemblies this term will be on ideas and what we do with them. I'll be using the text: What do we do with an idea by Kobi Yamada to explore all of our ideas - where they come from, what we do with them, and what happens to them. This cues me up nicely to share some of the school's exciting ideas and developments for this year - what will we do with them!

Senior Leadership

Our new and familiar Senior Leadership Team 2022-23:

I  am delighted and very proud to introduce our new Senior Leadership Team. We are very lucky to have a stable, committed, invested and driven group of leaders who continue to develop their own practice and drive Little Green and the wider community to even bigger and better things.

Mrs Rowland -  SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator )

Mr Hyde - Joint Teaching and Learning Leader, Year 6 Leader, English Lead

Miss Reile - Joint Teaching and Learning Leader, Year 5 Lead, Science Lead

Year Group Website

Miss Marriott has set up a new one-stop shop for Year 3 communication.  We think the Year 3 Communication website is a great idea and we will be trialling one for each Year Group. With lots of new parents, Miss Marriott was keen to share  Year 3 today. Years 4, 5 and 6 will be going live by Friday of next week.

Let us know what you think!

STREAM

Local Schools Learning Together:

We are excited about the opportunities for promoting and celebrating the creative thinkers & curious minds; developing an academic/wider curriculum model similar to the sports partnership model of inclusive competitive celebrations! This could include art competitions, poetry recitals, gardening events etc, Mr Flint will be supporting subject leaders at Little Green and across the Three Rivers and Watford areas and this is aimed to culminate with a shared celebration and awards event similar to the Sports Awards in the summer term - watch this space!

Explorers

We are very excited to have launched our Explorer Afternoon approach this week - so far so good!

Each Year Group has one afternoon with our PSHE lead and TAs to target a range of exciting explorations and adventures building on and complimenting the National Curriculum.

The benefits to the approach include:

Once we have settled, we look forward to inviting parents in regularly to celebrate and support the children's learning .

Nature Competition Reminder

We launched our Nature Competition before the summer and would love to receive entries from the children of Nature in Croxley. These will be displayed before a winner is decided an announced. Please do send your entries in to admin@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk

Thank you!

Little Green Website

www.littlegreen.herts.sch.uk

Do look at the website blog for examples of your child's learning - something to drive a conversation:

Parent: What did you do today?

Child: Can't remember

Parent: Oh, I saw that your year group did.... what was that like.

Child: Oh yes...

Welcome back everyone!

Year 3 Biscuits

FOLG would like to welcome the new Year 3s to Little Green, we shall be sending home welcome biscuits with all Year 3 students this afternoon (children with known allergies will receive an alternative). The biscuits conform to the strict nut free school policy endorsed by Little Green. We hope that you all enjoy your time at Little Green.

Stationery sets

Thank you to everyone who ordered stationery sets - it was the first time FOLG had tried this and it seemed to go relatively smoothly. All packs should have now been received by those who placed orders.

If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.

Second hand uniform

Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via  folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.

Cheese and Wine welcome event

FOLG would like you to join their first PTA meeting of the year which will be a cheese and wine evening held in the school hall. The meeting will be held on Monday 3rd October at 7:30pm for a 7:45pm start. Please bring fundraising ideas as we would love to hear them. Everybody welcome - we look forward to seeing you then.

LIVING STREETS SURVEY

Living Streets are working in partnership with Three Rivers Council to explore the key walking zones in the area to inform and input into the local walking and cycling plan. Part of that work is to look at the routes taken by pupils and their families travelling to/from school and what potential barriers to walking there are in the local area.

We would like your school community to feed into the process, so have attached an online survey which we would appreciate if you could send out via your school newsletter/comms at the start of the school term. We are keen to gain as many responses from local people as possible to feed into the findings, so would greatly appreciate your help with this. The survey closing date is 30th September 2022.

If you have any further comments or would like further information on the project, please let us know.

Many thanks
