We are very lucky to have a dedicated and skilled group of volunteers sharing their time and expertise with the whole community. This Friday morning we welcomed the Full Governing Body to come and see the school in action. The governors were in three groups and were particularly impressed by the children's attitudes and understanding - see table. A huge thank you to the governors for their time, expertise and insight. We may have a parent governor vacancy in the spring term - more details to follow then.
If you are interested in the detail, you can see the plan of the morning clicking here .
Governors Talk
To help raise the profile and understanding of the incredible hard work and dedication of our governors, we will be developing a range of short videos to introduce them to you. We also aim to embed these across the Website and School Development Plan to help bring some life to the many written words. We have three courageous Guinea Pigs today: Alan Restarick - an electronics programme manager, and bee keeper; Chris McDermott, outstanding headteacher, lecturer, successful thespian, and writer (See last weeks My Croxley); and Emma Tiernan, local strategic council officer, Computing Expert supporting GDPR, and current parent.

There are many strong views around the decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar and also whether we condone this choice by watching any of the football. As a school, we will be discussing these ideas with the children in assembly on Monday morning to highlight these ideas. We will also be giving children the option of watching the football match in a class or choosing another activity. We feel this gets the balance right between the two perspectives and allows for personal choice. Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support in our approach to navigating political complexity.
The Year Six Eco Warriors
Hello Parents and Carers,
These are the Year Six eco warriors speaking to you about the environment at Little Green. For two weeks we have been collecting litter in the lower playground. The most common thing we found on the lower playground was wrappers that are not meant for snacks. We have also found food bags, wrappers, and a lot more. On the 3rd of November we collected 49 pieces of rubbish and on the 17th we collected 10 pieces but altogether we have collected 59 pieces of rubbish . We would really like to change that.
Please remind your children about bringing in healthy snacks, for example fruit or vegetables. Please tell your children to remember their pots as we found two and we wouldn't want you to keep buying pots.
Rubbish is a big part of the world and Little Green is doing their part to save the environment.
Thank you from,
Siobhan, Emy, Lexie , Alice, Tilly and Martha
No Tobbi this week as our resident cartoonist is unwell today. Watch out again for next week!
Thank you to everyone that has shared their thoughts about behaviour in a school. It is an area I am very passionate about getting right for everyone, as the consequences of getting it wrong are so damaging to a community. As a school, we are working hard to ensure we are doing the best for the community. This means we need to listen to everyone carefully. Some comments suggest I have got this wrong. If my own passions and arguments have made you think I am not listening, I apologise. Please do continue to talk with us so we are able to explore the whole community perspective. Here is the parent perspective on when you feel a lesson is not being managed effectively. A range of views, but, in general and reassuringly, the staff have a very similar perspective: we expect almost all children to be learning most of the time and also ensure support in place for those struggling.
If you'd still like to add your views - there is a space at the end of the google form: Behaviour Reflections Thinking about behaviour - a community conversation.

Thank you to everyone who ordered stationery sets - it was the first time FOLG had tried this and it seemed to go relatively smoothly. All packs should have now been received by those who placed orders.
If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.

Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Supporting you and your family through the cost-of-living crisis
The rising cost of living is making many of us feel scared, stressed and anxious. You may be worried about paying rent alongside putting food on the table - or anxious about how these uncertain times may be impacting your family. Our new web guide and blog on money and mental health offers advice on supporting your own, and your child’s, wellbeing through the cost-of-living crisis. We’ve also included lots of suggestions of where to find practical financial support if you’re struggling. We hope this helps
