Key dates and messages
Thank you to Mrs Crawford for arranging our NSPCC workshops and leading the NSPCC assembly on Monday. Some very helpful and supportive messages for children and the continued and repeated message of 'Speak Out, Stay Safe.'
Older years will be receiving a workshop today from the NSPCC Team. Here is a copy of the email sent out giving more information about how we can support children to speak out and how it is important there is a supportive adult to listen.
At Little Green, we work hard to create a range of relationships for children to identify on their safe hand - a hand that shows at least 5 adults (at least one in school and one outside of school) who they can speak to. With no other options, Childline is a brilliant and anonymous way for a worried child to get support also: 0800 11 11.
Dear Parent/Carer
NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe. programme
We are pleased to inform you that we are participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe. Programme this term. Speak out. Stay safe. is a programme for children aged 5-11 which aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a safe adult or Childline.
This child-friendly programme is aligned with the curriculum and consists of age appropriate virtual assemblies and supporting classroom-based activities which we have reviewed, alongside NSPCC volunteer led face-to-face workshops for years 5 and 6. The content is delivered in an engaging and interactive way with the help of the NSPCC mascot Buddy. If you would like to know more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme visit www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout.
Feedback survey for pupils aged 7-11
The NSPCC would like to gather feedback from pupils aged between 7-11 about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme to gauge their learning. This will be voluntary and children can still take part in the programme if they don’t take part in the survey.
All survey questions are multiple choice and focussed on the programme.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. However, if in the process of completing the survey, a teacher becomes concerned for a pupil’s welfare (e.g., through something a pupil says) we will follow our school’s safeguarding procedures.
If you do not want your child to take part in the survey, please email the office at admin@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk
If you have agreed that your child can take part in the survey but your child changes their mind on the day, that is also okay.

The Little Green Team
My beauty regime does not, yet, include a lot of face creams. I was fascinated and concerned to receive this article from a parent who reports that some children are using a range of adult beauty products. This is 'dangerous'. Please consider the chemicals in these products and what they may be doing to children's delicate and youthful skin. There are child friendly ones available.
Thank you also to this parent for sharing a concern I was not aware of. We are always doing out best to listen - see last week's virtual drop in and the survey if you'd like to share anything with us: Feedback AND future suggestions - please share your thoughts! So far, 0 responses :-(
The school staff, governors, FOLG and wider parents have been working hard to improve the road safety for our children and we do have a few short and longer term ideas - more on that in a moment.
However, one of the key issues is evidencing the level of concern and need. The repeated surveys carried out by the Highways Agency tally the road over a prolonged period which means the 10 minute traffic rush at pick-up and drop off is lost in an hour's data.
To combat this, a knowledgeable parent has suggested we start to gather wider evidence of the unsafe acts, near misses and beyond to present to the powers that be and highlight our case for greater road calming measures.
Using the accident triangle as a guide, we would like to you to complete this form whenever you see any of the issues identified - please do also add any previous issues that you can recall. Let's get some data to help us share our concerns and promote decision makers to listen...
The aim will be to add greater weight to our requests for some road calming support, especially with the greater focus that the Breakspeare development may put on the local area's infrastructure.

Wider Plans
We are still working with our plans - see Newsweb Week 4 - and we are also looking at supporting an increase in cycling and, volunteer-depending, a walking bus.
In the meantime, thank you for all the positive comments regarding the new barrier and Senior Leader presence at the Spinney. We are all on the same team!

Stationery sets
Save yourself the summer stationery shopping stress and buy now! Sourced by Mr Flint so all of the equipment in the packs is school approved!
The flash sale price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £10 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. The pack contains 2 writing pens, a green pen, 2 HB pencils, a pair of scissors (you can specify right or left handed), Pritt Stick, eraser, Boogie sharpener, 30 cm ruler, whiteboard pen, highlighter all contained in a clear pencil case. These can then be sent straight to your child's classroom or be held at the school office for you to pick up.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
MESSAGES / NOTES:
CAR PARKING REMINDER
Please do not park on the yellow zig zag lines. This is a waiting offence and puts pedestrians at risk. Police will almost always issue a Fixed Penalty Notice without exceptions. Please park safely.
A polite reminder that parents should not be driving into the School car park for any reason between 8am and 5pm.
Only Blue Badge holders should be accessing the School car park. Thank you.
BASC (Breakfast and After School Club) parents can use the School car park before 8am and after 5pm.
