Your account has default settings so you can delay setting them up and return to make changes whenever you log in.
Step 1
Login
Log in to your Apptegy account. Directions on the 'Login' page under the Apptegy tab may help.
Your account will show 8 sets of tasks extending out of the purple circle icon at the bottom right until you mark each one as completed. The first 4 sets of the directions guide you through the steps below.
Fill in requested information
A. Select the purple pencil icon to edit your image. It is suggested you use your staff picture so parents and students will easily associate you with your messages. When you select the icon you will be prompted to select an image file from your computer. Photos are accessible in the 'Staff Photo' Shared Drive. You may need to download the image to your device before it can be uploaded to Apptegy.
B. After filling in a field with the requested information you will need to select a check mark before proceeding to the next field.
C. Changing your password requires typing in your old password. Password requirements are listed below the area you type in your new password.
D. If your preferred language does not match the person you are communicating with, you will receive their original message accompanied with a message translated to your preferred language.
E. Time zone should be set to Central.
F. This is a setting many won't have. It adjusts the default choice if messages you write will be simultaneously posted to social media.
G. Selecting the 'Pause notifications' button temporarily turns off your regular notification schedule and brings up options to set an 'Out of office' message and set you want notifications to resume. Pausing your messages temporarily overrides the settings in step H-J.
H. Select this menu to change the day(s) of the week you want to receive notifications from Apptegy.
I. Turn this switch off to indicate you are not available to receive notifications all day. It will bring up two fields where you set the time of day you are available.
J. Type in a message you want sent to a person who sends you a message during times you are not receiving them. Note: If you pause notifications described in step G, that message will override the message you write here.
K. You will not receive any email notification of messages or announcements unless the option is turned on. Messages are communications specifically to you and Announcements are communications sent to a group. The image shows Messages turned off but Announcements turned on.
L. Most staff will not have these settings. They are used by staff who approve posts and page changes made by others.
M. Select the '+Add new profile' button to input a new name and image. When creating messages you will be able to switch the profile it is displayed with. An example of use is a teacher that may want to post differently to a team they coach.
N. These settings allow you to use Google's Single button Sign-On so should not be changed.
O. Google Classroom messages will also post to Rooms if you link the accounts. This option is currently blocked so directions for setting it up are not yet complete.
P. Select this option if you would like to sign out of your account. This may require following different login steps when you return to the site.
Q. These sections are primarily used by IT staff and insomniacs.
