Angel joined BIS in August 2025. Born in Taiwan, she obtained her BA in Chinese Language and Literature from National Cheng Kung University. She went on to study for a Diploma in Education, followed by MA and PhD degrees in Child Development and Learning at the UCL Institute of Education, UK, specialising in how children learn Chinese characters. Her PhD thesis was shortlisted for the “Outstanding Dissertation of the Year” award by the International Reading Association.
Before joining BIS, Angel worked as a Mandarin teacher at Harrow International School Bangkok and Harrow International School Beijing, as Head of Mandarin at Gresham’s School, UK, as Director of Doctoral Studies at Dhurakij Pundit University, Thailand, and as an Assistant Professor at Tzu Chi University, Taiwan.
Angel came to BIS to join her husband, Paul. They have two grow up children at university in the UK. She enjoys travelling and teaching students from around the world. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking and exploring different cuisines, nature, and art, practising yoga, and working as a translator and reviewer of children’s books.
