John joined BIS in August 2025 as a Teacher of English. Prior to this, he taught in Greater Manchester and Liverpool, where he was Deputy Head of Faculty. He wants students to understand how language is used to shape our perceptions of the world, and how they can use language and literature to explore the complexity and beauty of being human today.

Before becoming a teacher, John worked as a journalist in the UK and as a marketing consultant in Shanghai, China. He comes to Ho Chi Minh City with his wife, Rachel (also a teacher at BIS), and daughter Aurelia, who will be a student at the school. As a family, they are looking forward to making one of Southeast Asia’s most cosmopolitan cities their home and exploring the vibrant, storied culture that has shaped modern Vietnam.
