Stuart in originally from a small town in Northern Ireland. However, his teaching journey began in Newcastle-upon-Tyne were he completed his teacher training before moving to South-East London where he completed 4 years in his first teaching role in a large grammar school. While working in the UK Stuart fueled his passion for geography by travelling around the world, including destinations in South America, Vietnam and SE Asia. His sense of adventure and love of his subject naturally led to him coordinating the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme as well as leading a World Challenge expedition to Madagascar. He was always keen to get involved in international teaching and he joined BIS in 2016. 

At BIS, Stuart has organised and led many Geography fieldwork residential expeditions to Dalat and Mui Ne. In additional to fieldwork days based in various districts of HCMC. Stuart has held a number of varied positions in the school such as Head of Saigon house and Assistant Head of Year 12. He is now a Head of Year in the lower school.
