Mark joined BIS in August 2022. Prior to this he worked for six years as the Head of Higher Education Guidance at The British International School Shanghai (another Nord Anglia Education school) and is proud to have developed the school’s strong track record of enabling students to progress on to a wide range of Higher Education Institutions across the UK, the USA, Canada, Asia, Australasia, and Mainland Europe. Before his move to China, Mark spent eight years working at a Secondary school in London as Deputy Head of Sixth Form and subsequently as the school’s Post-16 Support and Transition Manager. During this time, he was also the coordinator of the Sixth Form Student Council and acted as a staff governor. To develop his knowledge and skills, Mark completed a post-graduate university qualification in Higher Education Advice in 2010 and, in 2022, attained a Certificate in International College Advising from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. He enjoys the opportunity to help students realise their educational and career aspirations, and is keen to use his experience to help students advance towards their goals in the stimulating environment that BIS HCMC offers.

Mark has undertaken courses in Philosophy, Anthropology, and Psychology, and completed a Foundation Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the British Psychotherapy Foundation in London. He is keen music fan and has played the drums in many bands over the years, performing at the Glastonbury Music Festival in 2002. He once completed evening classes in stand-up comedy, but fears that this has done little to improve the quality of his jokes!
