Tara joined BIS HCMC in August 2023 as a teacher in Year 2, having previously taught Year 2 at the International School Brunei. Tara’s first international move was completing part of her undergraduate degree in Paris. She has since lived in New Zealand, the UK, Argentina, and Brunei.

Having originally trained as a secondary teacher, Tara first fell in love with the primary classroom in Argentina. The joy, enthusiasm and love of learning and life that small children bring to the classroom is inspiring and guiding them through their learning journeys is an incredible privilege. Tara believes that classrooms should be exciting, engaging, safe spaces where everyone has the chance to fall in love with learning. Tara has always been fascinated by the language and culture of her host country and is looking forward to the challenge of learning basic Vietnamese.

Tara’s passion for languages has led to a strong interest in phonics development in young learners, especially those who come from multi-lingual families, leading to her completing a Masters degree in applied linguistics and a dream of completing a PhD in the future. She enjoys hiking, walking, swimming, and yoga.
