Katherine Hartnett was born in 1861. She was from Conception, Missouri. She applied to enter on January 24, 1878 and entered as a candidate on March 4. She entered novitiate on May 7, 1878 and made First Profession on June 10, 1879., receiving the name Sr. M. Walburga.
On June 27, 1882 Sr. Walburga and Sr. Johanna took our boarding students from Colorado home for the summer via train. They spent the summer collecting funds for the community. On Aug. 30 they returned with 19 students for the new school year.
Sr. Walburga made final profession on Sept. 29, 1884. November 16 she became very ill, apparently with tuberculosis. On March 25, 1885 there were rumours (false) that Sr. Walburga had died. She herself laughed heartily about it. Her sister came to visit on May 21, 1885. She was very weak by June 1 and died on June 12, 1885. Many people came to her visitation and funeral. It was noted, “The way she lived, she died—resigned to God’s holy Will, quiet and satisfied.”
