Caroline Schildknecht, another one of the pioneer members of our congregation, was born at Huggenschwil, Switzerland in 1866. Both of her parents were natives of that country. She was received by Mother M. John and was invested with the holy habit on August 24, 1886. Temporary vows were professed on November 17, 1887, at which time she received the name of Sister M. Benedicta. Perpetual vows were made on November 21, 1893.Â
She served in the orphanage beginning in 1894. In late 1897 she began experiencing poor health and she died on September 30, 1900 at the age of thirty-four. She was a sister of Sister M. Leona Schildknecht who died in 1921.
