Sister M. Raymunda Huegle was born in Baden, Germany on February 2, 1861. She was a relative of Very Rev. Gregory Huegle, Prior of Conception Abbey. Sister was received as an Oblate on December 8, 1905. Being crippled, she was unable to participate fully in the Divine Office, but faithfully kept holy adoration both during the day and at night.
Sister M. Raymunda was a devoted, sacrificial person, intent on doing the will of God. She helped with various household tasks, with the peeling and other work around the kitchen. For years she was faithful in servicing all the oil lamps and lanterns used in the convent before other lighting (gas and later electricity) was installed. They were a necessary item also during times of power failure after the gas and electricity were in use. Sister brought them down regularly and returned them to their - places in the evening, cleaned and refilled.
Sister was diagnosed with cancer in early 1921. On June 13 she was allowed to make perpetual vows. Fr. Lukas Etlin, O.S.B. and Mother Dolorosa were praying with her when she died very peacefully on July 1, 1921, at age 60.
