Sister was born in Switzerland on May 20, 1872. She was invested with the religious habit on February 10, 1897, and on December 8, 1905 made her commitment as an Oblate. Because of a delicate physique, she could not assume the responsibility of chanting the Divine Office regularly, and so could not become a professed religious.
Though frail, she mended the shoes of the community - a task she did painstakingly and well. Her 'shop' was in the old Academy, near the reception rooms, so that she could help out there when needed. She was an edification to and was much loved by the guests.
The Academy girls admired her and said that her smiling face radiated God's light for them. Sister was confined to the infirmary for some time, and one evening was seized with a violent coughing spell which proved too much for her heart. Still wearing her working clothes, she was anointed on what was then the sun-porch of the old infirmary, adjoining the small chapel where she had spent so many hours in prayer. She died soon afterwards - on January 8, 1921, at the age of forty-nine.
