Verena Voegli, another of our early pioneers, was born in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1865. She entered the convent at Clyde as a postulant on October 17, 1888 and received the religious habit on the following February 10th. Becoming critically ill during her novitiate, Verena made her vows on her deathbed on September 30, 1889, and was given the name Sister Mary Michaele. Sister died just three days later on October 3, 1889, at the age of twenty-four years, - the same age, day and month as the Little Flower, though not the same year.
