Born February 26,1917, one of eight children of John James Judge and Eleanor Steinwand. She was well educated in terms of the times in which she lived, having obtained teacher's training as well as some ability in organ. She demonstrated leadership ability in her sodality before entrance, and special skills in debate and elocution.
Grace Veronica entered Clyde in 1942, and was professed August 26, 1944 and received the name of Consilia, with final monastic profession on Sept. 17, 1949. In addition to receiving early training at Clyde, she spent one year in Mundelein, IL, prior to final profession.
Sister diligently served the community in various ways, always extremely dedicated and conscientious in the fulfillment of the details of the task assigned. One of her favorite occupations, beginning with her assignment to the Correspondence/Editorial department was the gathering of information and data. She was challenged and enlivened by seeking out facts, filing them in an orderly fashion, convinced they were important for any understanding of life.Â
She had a freedom of responding to people and a graciousness of being able to forgive and literally forget. The 'things' around her did not distract her from the one thing necessary, that of seeking God with a free and uncluttered heart!
It was in the midst of fulfilling her work assignment in the altar bread department, that she became seriously ill. In a matter of hours she completed her earthly journey. She had just a few days previous to her death been able to renew acquaintances with members of our Congregation as we gathered together for a General Assembly at Clyde, June l-13, 1989.
"In the twinkling of an eye, all will be made new". And so it was when our dear Sr. M. Consilia Judge died peacefully but suddenly June 16, 1989 at 1:15 AM at St. Francis' Hospital in Maryville, MO.
