Lucinda Bonfils was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1871. She must have entered our convent in 1888, as the date of her investment is given as November 21, 1889. She was professed November 21, 1890 as Sister M. Pancratia.
From 1894-1895, together with Sr. Mechtilde Hilgert, she was assigned to St. Mary’s Parish School in St. Joseph, MO. The school opened in 1892 and was taught by two Benedictine Sisters from Clyde. Two rooms on the first floor were to be used as classrooms for a school, and two as living quarters for the pastor. There were 36 children in the school, and 50 families in the parish. A home on the northwest corner of the same block upon which the church was built served for their living quarters. In 1895, when Fr. Dominic left, the sisters also left.
Sometime in late 1900 she went to Colorado for her health. When it became apparent in June 1901 that she would not recover, she returned to Clyde and died September 13, 1901, at the age of thirty.
Unfortunately, there is no extant photo of Sr. Pancratia.
