Agatha Schildknecht was born in Waldkirch, St. Gall, Switzerland on Feb. 16, 1862. She became a postulant at Clyde on Oct. 16, 1882, and on Jan. 15, 1883, received the religious habit. Her first profession of vows was on the same date, one year later, as Sister M. Cecilia, and on July 26, 1889, she made perpetual vows. A younger sister followed her to America, entered at Clyde in June, 1886, and became our Sister M. Odelia.
Sister M. Cecilia had received a good education, and became a fervent, faithful religious. For twelve years she was at the foundation in Chewelah, Washington, being Superior part of the time. She was Prefectress at the Clyde Academy for two years, Novice Mistress for seventeen years, and Assistant to Mother M. John for three years.
Sister was very talented in music and an accomplished organist. For many years she directed the choir and taught Gregorian Chant under the supervision of Very Rev. Gregory Huegle of Conception Abbey, an outstanding authority on the Chant.
Sister M. Cecilia suffered much from a stomach ailment the last years of her life, was hospitalized for about a week, and died on August 24, 1930, at the age of sixty-eight.
