Rose Sapp was born in Milwood, Ohio, on August 14, 1865. Both of her parents were American-born. She entered our convent at Clyde on September 21, 1887; was invested with the holy habit on December 3d of the same year, and made profession as Sister M. Alphonsa on March 25, 1889. Her final vows were made on August 24, 1895. A younger sister entered in 1894 and became Sister M. Ildephonse.
Sister M. Alphonsa is to be remembered for her saintliness, her joyous disposition and loving concern for others. She suffered from a pulmonary condition and was very frail; nevertheless she served the community in many capacities.
Sister helped at the orphanage for three years, taught school for fifteen years, and was Prefectress of St. Joseph's Academy for five years. As Directress of the Sodality she had a great influence on the Academy girls in encouraging religious vocations. From 1915 to 1921, Sister was a member of the community at Chewelah, Washington. She also served as Procuratrix at Clyde for six years.
Having been confined to the Clyde infirmary for some years because of ill health, Sister died in her sleep on September 13, 1927 at the age of sixty-two years.
