Katherine Kim was born at Rockport, Missouri, July 18, 1870. Her father was of Swiss origin, her mother German. She entered at Clyde on January 12, 1891, and was invested on the following May 30th. On August 25, 1892 she was professed as Sister M. Rose, and made perpetual vows on July 12, 1900. She was one of the large group receiving Consecration of Virgins at Clyde on November 16, 1952.
For years, Sister taught in outlying schools. Later she worked at various tasks, one of which was to assemble booklets to fill orders in the Order Department. To make her task easier, she had her own abridged titles for the booklets. Sister was a gentle, soft-spoken person, with a strong faith and a deep love for prayer, and was generous in keeping the night hours of adoration.
Sister M. Rose spent years in the infirmary until the final summons came on October 8, 1958, just a few hours before Pope Pius XII died. Some saw significance in this, since Sister was greatly devoted to prayer for priests and for the Holy Father, and for years had kept the private adoration hour from 11:00 to 11:30 for the intentions of the Holy Father. They said she had gone to open the gates of paradise for Pius XII. Sister was eighty-nine years old, and had been a member of the community for sixty-nine years, celebrating both her Golden and Diamond Jubilees.
