Eutimia Gallegos was born in Conjidon, New Mexico on June 15, 1892. She entered at Clyde on Nov. 16, 1929 and was invested on Aug. 3, 1930. During the time of her postulancy and novitiate she went by the name of Gertrude, until her profession on Sept. 22, 1931 when she received the name of Sister M. Theodora. Perpetual vows were made Aug. 21, 1936.
Previous to her entrance Sister kept house for Bishop Espalage of Gallup, N. Mex. for some years. Her many contacts with priests and prelates during this time instilled in her a very high regard for the priesthood. She entered somewhat later in life (with the highest recommendations of the Bishop) and was assigned work in the kitchen and bakery. She was a very humble, quiet, prayerful person, most faithful in all her duties. Her heavy Spanish accent made it difficult to understand her and so to converse with her. Nevertheless she was always cheerful and patient, and could at times become very animated and outgoing. Though never robust, she gave herself wholeheartedly both to prayer and labor. She did various kinds of domestic work and was always at the service of others, never happier than when she could do something for someone else.
Sister spent about twenty-six years in Tucson, where she also did domestic work, besides caring for the Chaplain's quarters. Sister suffered from cancer and was brought home to Clyde about six months before her death. Even then she tried to do needlework, until completely confined to bed. She suffered much and patiently, offering all "for priests,, and died on Ember Wednesday, a day dedicated to the priesthood, December 15, 1964, at the age of seventy-two. She had the privilege of Consecration of Virgins in Tucson Jan. 6, 1953.
