Post date: Aug 12, 2016 9:43:16 PM

These are the three main areas the AVP USA Research and Higher Education Committee will focus on between now and the next National Gathering.

1. Increase use of the Empathy instrument

Several groups are using the Empathy Instrument as a pre- posttest measure to demonstrate change in the participants and the committee believes this could be a viable area of research and to help demonstrate results from the workshops.

a. Determine how to compile the Empathy instrument results from several groups

b. Have a statistician assist with the data & get peer review of the results from the Empathy measures

c. Promote the use of the Empathy measure across several AVP groups.

2. Gain recognition and an evidence-based organization

Gaining the designation as an evidence-based organization from an outside body usually requires and application and demonstration of research and data about the programs impact. These designations can lead to increased support and funding as well as external validity of the strength of AVP.

a. Follow up with previous organizations we have applied with.

b. Identify new organizations/entities to apply with to be “evidence based”.

3. Increased committee visibility

Increase the committee visibility to all of the AVP community, by sharing more info on AVP-L and AVP-I.

a. Increasing the number of members involved with the committee

b. Making members aware of the work the committee does.
