CONFERENCE COMMITTEE NOTES: March 12, 2016

Notes by Nancy Hutchins

March 8 Meeting on 2015 Conference.

Attending: Alice Waco, dawn Addy, Rick Krouskop, Margaret Browne, Sharon Moon, Nancy Hutchins

Plans for the conference are well underway. The group spent some time going over the proposed schedule. There have been many proposals and there will probably not be room for all of them. Rick suggested that the committee meetings be spread over two days. The International Organization could be given a space during one of the committee meeting slots. Nancy asked that some other time nearer the end be found for the Conference Committee-- perhaps a breakfast meeting on Monday. Nancy suggested that five breakout sessions could be offered instead of four in each slot. There will be some specific offerings on Monday morning. There was discussion of how to make some time available for the Peace Fellows.

Registration Questions. The Committee agreed that it is not feasible to reduce rates for the 3-day conference for folks that want to come late or leave early. It was agreed that minors could register and attend with a parent. It is assumed the minor would room with the parent and the parent would take full responsibility for the minor.

Scholarship Committee: Sharon Moon is very aware of the need for the group to move swiftly after the deadline. She will email recipients and members of the committee will follow up with calls. Enough dollars to fund 2 scholarships will be held back for a while to make sure that formerly incarcerated facilitators have a chance to apply.

Publicity. The timing and content of 2 more emails to the general list was discussed. At least one will go out reminding people of the early bird deadline.

Food Contract and other details. Margaret will work on these details with Regis. Room with computer access to be negotiated.

No next meeting is planned. Committee members are available for consultation or a meeting will be set up at Denver's request.

Looks like it will be a great conference!

March 11 Phone Call with Chris Campbell of Massachusetts.

The 2017 Conference will be held in New England, spearheaded by the Massachusetts Counsel. At a meeting today consensus to host the conference was achieved by those in attendance. Several possible sites are being investigated, and it all sounds very promising and exciting.
