JUNE 11, 2017 EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPORT

A. This is a general report about activities at the Boston Gathering; specific reports from respective Education Committee Teams are forthcoming.

B. The Pre-Conference, “Achieving Harmony in Diversity,” was a success. Participants asked that we do this again. They appreciated the integration of somatics (led by Bill Leicht) and AVP activities and light and livelies. With more than 25 participants and excellent facilitators, we got some valuable ideas for manual exercises on diversity. Special thanks to Noelle for her creative and promising planning of activities and light and livelies.

C. The World Café process: Education managed three tables:

(1) Education and Manuals>>>>Facilitated by Betty and Katherine

(2) Best Practices, with a focus on AVP Core Values and Workshop Practice>>Facilitated by Nancy Vimla and Peace Fellows

(3) New Advanced Topics Team >> Facilitated by Grace and Peace Fellows

We collected names, email addresses, and valuable feedback. Hopefully, some of those names will result in additional members for Education.

D. *The Adaptations and Communications Committees will provide their respective reports.

E. The Core Values were a “hit”; many participants asked for individual copies. We will have to provide them via the Internet.

F. Education, Communications, and the Distribution Center shared a room, and each group was busy handling inquiries and/or holding group and individual meetings.

G. The Pre-Conference on diversity, the World Café, and the separate activities in the Education room made us much more transparent, and hopefully will yield additional members.

**Thanks very much to Dawn, past president, and the Board for the special recognition given to us for the work that we do in Education, and for the gifts that you gave to Betty and Katherine. We are deeply appreciative.
