CONFERENCE COMMITTEE REPORT: APRIL 2015

2015 Conference: Registrar Rick reported that 65 people have registered as of April 14. A completed contract is finally in hand and is ready to be signed (or has been signed by this time?) by AVPUSA President.

The local committee is pleased to announce that the film "In an Ideal World," which was produced by an AVP facilitator, will be shown Saturday evening and Dana Lyons, "musician extraordinaire" is booked for Sunday eve. So far, there are 11 breakout sessions confirmed.

2016 Conference: Margaret Browne of New Foundations in Denver has been researching possible sites for a 2016 Conference. She is asking C of C to consider moving the date of the conference to a couple of weeks earlier in May so that a local college or university could be used. All local universities are back in session with classes by Memorial Day and unavailable that weekend. Otherwise, the only option will be to look for a site "in the mountains" or other retreat center further away from Denver. She is concerned about the difficult transportation issues of a site that would be 30 miles or more. She says:

"There are three colleges in Denver: Regis University (a Jesuit college with a social justice program), Johnson and Wales, and Denver University. There are several advantages to a Denver location:

1. No transportation issues from the airport to the site

2. More opportunity for local volunteers to participate without paying for a room.

3. Opportunity to bring a college into partnership with a college.
