Finance Committee Report, 1/11/2015
The Finance Committee met on December 10th, 2014. The following is a summary of that meeting.
Budget Update – Treasurer Joe Ossmann shared the budget report from 11/30/14, which was circulated via email, and reports that the budget picture seems to be good. The treasurer transition is progressing smoothly, and looks to be in its final stages. Joe and Gary will have another working session in January, to go through reconciling the credit card transactions.
Annual Fundraising Appeal Letter Status – The Fundraising Appeal letter is in process, and we expect it to go to press and be mailed before the holidays. Gary will deposit checks; Joe will enter them into the budget, and Chad will send thank you letters.
Funding for AVP-USA participation at Monmouth Univ. Global Understanding Conference, April 2015 -- The committee recommends that if Dawn Addy were invited, that her travel be supported by the C of C Travel Budget; the committee also recommended that Chad apply to CLARG for a regional grant. Joe also will reach out to David Zarembka in Africa to see if a representative will be in the US.
The C of C inquired if there is a line item for C of C travel. Yes, the C of C Travel budget appears on line 79, currently with a budget of $2,500.00.
Records Retention: The committee approved the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center Records Retention Policy (based on AICPA policies) as the policy for AVP-USA. The policy is replicated in the October 29, 2014 minutes. Gary and Joe will use this as their model.
