• Students will read and hear informational text to understand how key details develop the main idea.

• Students will orally summarize texts read aloud to reinforce these elements of main idea and detail and their importance to the text.

• Students will compare and contrast overall structure of events ideas, concepts or information in two or more texts.

• Using the structure as a guide, students will demonstrate the ability to quickly and efficiently locate the answer to a question.

• Students will use their knowledge of the structure of informational text to answer teacher directed questions and then develop and answer their own questions.
