Students will read informational texts, including various media, and determine the main idea supported by key details.
Students will cite evidence from the text to answer text-based questions.
Students will use text features (keywords, sidebars, hyperlinks, maps, charts, etc.) and illustrations to locate information and demonstrate understanding of the text.
Students will be exposed and define specific domain words relevant to the subject area.
Students will read words with irregular spelling: silent h; u muda (what, who, what, gui)
Students will be able to read grade-level words with irregular spelling (example: they recognize that h is silent, except in the digraph ch; and that u is silent in the syllables que, qui, gue, gui).(RF 3.3d)

Students will complete the Chamisa identification as the first plant in their identification book.
