Faculty Qualifications
3.1 Faculty Qualifications. The Teacher Education program where the proposed Education Specialist Credential will be housed is one of our two programs in the Education Department: Teacher Education and Educational Leadership. The proposed program will receive the same support and be part of the same assessment system present for the department. Dr. Marco Bravo is in a non-teaching role, as he is serving as the Associate Dean for the School of Education and Counseling Psychology. All other faculty have teaching responsibilities. Four faculty have field placement responsibilities—Melina Johnson (Single Subject); Cynthia Pizzo (Multiple Subjects); Kathy Sun (Interns); TBD (Education Specialist). These responsibilities include, securing MOU with participating districts, recruiting Learning Support Teachers and field supervisors. Please see our advertisement that lists these responsibilities. These field placement coordinators also have the responsibility of providing training to the Learning Support Teachers/Cooperating Teachers, and field supervisors. This training includes calibration on the formative and summative evaluation tools as well as ensuring Learning Support Teachers/Cooperating Teachers sign up and complete the CTC training on supporting and evaluating adults.

3.3 Faculty Experience & Qualifications. Faculty teaching experience is required and qualifications include a graduate degree in education or related field. Faculty also are required to engage in work within schools. Please see the chart labeled "Faculty Engagement" for examples of the various work in schools that faculty do. Field supervisors are required to hold a credential in the area that the student teacher or intern is seeking. Please see our job description for faculty & Field supervisor requirements.
