Key Feedback:
Candidates should be prepared at onset to be able write lesson plans and throughout the program
Candidates should be given opportunity to see the IEP process and understand the law requirements
Candidates should have ample opportunities to develop classroom management practices
Course assignments should include backward design to instruction
Supervision in year two should be considered and at least offered as an option for Education Specialist credential candidates
SST meeting process should be included as well as models of RTI
Candidates should have opportunity to attend SST meetings
Candidates should have opportunity to research the 14 disability areas recognized by the sate
Candidates should have opportunity to simulate in class IEP and SST meetings and provide feedback to each other in this controlled setting before being asked to be a part of these meetings.
