Key Feedback:

  • Candidates should be prepared at onset to be able write lesson plans and throughout the program

  • Candidates should be given opportunity to see the IEP process and understand the law requirements

  • Candidates should have ample opportunities to develop classroom management practices

  • Course assignments should include backward design to instruction

  • Supervision in year two should be considered and at least offered as an option for Education Specialist credential candidates

  • SST meeting process should be included as well as models of RTI

  • Candidates should have opportunity to attend SST meetings

  • Candidates should have opportunity to research the 14 disability areas recognized by the sate

  • Candidates should have opportunity to simulate in class IEP and SST meetings and provide feedback to each other in this controlled setting before being asked to be a part of these meetings.
