Primo VE Linking
OVERVIEW
Many institutions want to use links that point to Primo VE or need to change some that once pointed to the Primo New UI.
Methods to do so will be discussed here.
Note: In all the methods discussed, the brackets are always removed when inputing the local institutional data. So, for example <hostname> is replaced completely, including the < and >.
Primo VE LINKS
Any embedded links that use Deep Linking should most likely be updated to Primo VE links. Although these links will likely be redirected for a time and will point to Primo VE correctly, that may not always be the case after a certain amount of time passes.
New UI link is:
https://galileo-usg-gsu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/search?tab=default_tab&vid=GSU_V1
Primo VE link is:
https://galileo-xxx.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01GALI_xxx:xxx_xx&tab=LibraryCatalog
Notes:
primo-explore has changed to discovery in Primo VE links
Add your institution "code" after galileo- (1st xxx)
Add you institution "code" after 01GALI_ (2nd xxx)
Finally, look at your "old" Primo URL for the vid and add that (without the equals sign) to the final xxx_xx (your code may not include _V1)
MY ACCOUNT LINK
This link will point users to a login screen for their Library's Primo.
https://<hostname>/discovery/login?vid=<institution_code:view_code>
Changes to make to the above code:
The value <hostname> should be replaced with your base Primo URL (remove the < >). For example, MGA's is "galileo-mga.primo.exlibrisgroup.com".
The vid = value, <institution_code:view_code>, will come from your vid= value found in your Primo VE link (see above). Some institutions will have a _V1 in their view code while others do not.
For example, UGAs will be 01GALI_UGA:UGA
While MGA will be 01GALI_MGA:MGA_V1
ADVANCED SEARCH LINK
This link will point users to their Library's Primo with an Advanced Search Tab already open
https://<hostname>/discovery/search?AND&pfilter=lang,exact,eng,AND&tab=<search_slot_code>&search_scope=<search_profile_code>&vid=<institution_code:view_code>&mode=advanced
Changes to make to the above code:
The value <hostname> should be replaced with your base Primo URL (remove the < >). For example, Augusta's is "galileo-aug.primo.exlibrisgroup.com".
<search_slot_code> will likely equal LibraryCatalog (unless you want to use a different slot found in Alma --> Discovery --> Configure Views --> Search Profile Slots)
<search_profile_code> will equal MyInstitution
The vid = value, <institution_code:view_code> is the same as in the previous example

https://<hostname>/discovery/citationlinker?vid=<institution_code:view_code>&lang=en
Changes to make to the above code:

The vid = value, <institution_code:view_code> is the same as in the previous example. GSW's would be 01GALI_GSSU:GSWU_V1
COURSE RESERVES SEARCH LINK
This link will point users to their Library's Primo with the Course Reserves tab already set
https://<hostname>/discovery/search?tab=<search_slot_code>&vid=<institution_code:view_code>&lang=en
Changes to make to the above code:

https://<hostname>/discovery/search?tab=<search_slot_code>&search_scope=<search_profile_code>&vid=<institution_code:view_code>&sortby=rank&lang=en_US
Changes to make to the above code:
The value <hostname> should be replaced with your base Primo URL (remove the < >). For example, Clayton's is "galileo-aug.primo.exlibrisgroup.com".
<search_slot_code> will likely equal LibraryCatalog (unless you want to use a different slot found in Alma --> Discovery --> Configure Views --> Search Profile Slots)
<search_profile_code> will equal DiscoveryNetwork
The vid = value, <institution_code:view_code> is the same as in the previous example. Clayton's would be 01GALI_CLAYTON:CLAYTON_V1
CANNED SEARCH
If you want to generate a link for a canned search (a link to a specified search in Primo), you can use the Link Creator Here:
https://alma-configs.galib.uga.edu/gilfindembedwidget/usg_primo_search_creator.html
Select your institution and then enter the search text into the second area, "2. Quick Search Term"
