Patron-Driven Acquisition/Demand-Driven Acquisition:
PDA/DDA is a method of acquisition in which item records or a collection are uploaded to the catalog for patrons use. This process is a "just in time" acquisition model where the library acquires the item/materials after a set of pre-determined rules are "triggered". Triggers could be based on the time the patron spent on the item, number of pages read, or number of patrons using the item.
Evidence-Based Acquisition:
EBA method of acquisition is a process in which item records or a collection are uploaded to the catalog for patrons use. The process is similar to PDA/DDA. However, EBA is an agreement in which the library places a deposit for access to the collection for the agreed period of time. At the end of that period (typically, one year), the library chooses the materials to be permanently acquired. Then, the deposit is applied to the total cost of the acquired materials.
LOCAL DOCUMENTATION
Patron Driven Acquisition, Automatic Acquisition:
PDA/DDA materials can be automatically acquired through the use of the PDA/DDA Alma functionality. The automatic process works This automatic process needs to be configured and records to be imported into the institutional zone (see Alma Documentation below for more information).
Patron Driven Acquisition, Mediated Acquisition (see Page 4 for purchase order workflow):
PDA/DDA materials can also be mediated for acquisition y using the Patron Purchase Request functionality. In this instance, the patron searches for the title in the IZ and request the book to be purchase by the library through the "Get It" tab. Patrons will have abilities to request materials similar to a "selector" role. Then, the acquisition workflow for purchase orders take effect (see Page 4 to for purchase request PO workflow and Alma documentation below).
Evidence-Based Acquisition:
EBA materials should be imported and activated in the IZ. This process is similar to activating collections (see Activating E-Resources Workflow).
