Purpose

This page concisely lists problems with suggested solutions or workarounds. The intent is to share solutions by USG institutions to problems not well documented elsewhere.


Problems/Solutions

Electronic Collections of Type "Database" Require Service to Activate

  • Problem: When ordering an Electronic Collection of type Database, you cannot activate it. Alma responds that a service is required, even though Databases aren’t supposed to take a service. The result is that the POL remains in Sent status (rather than Waiting for renewal).

  • Solution: When ordering, use purchase type “Electronic Title – Subscription.” This will create an electronic portfolio (rather than an electron collection) but there will be no problem with activation.

Prices Not Displaying in EDI Invoices

  • Problem: EDI invoices load properly and connect to PO lines, but prices do not show.

  • Solution: This could be a problem with the definition of the price data (which segment is being used). This would have to be addressed by your vendor. Another possibility concerns an Alma setting. The setting is found in Acquisitions Configuration Menu > Other Settings. The setting “Invoice_split_additional_charges” must be set to "false." If set to true, prices will not load.
