Historical Voyager Data

OVERVIEW

On August 31st 2017, GIL is contractually obligated to turn off the Voyager server processes. This means that the Voyager clients (circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, etc) will no longer be able to connect to Voyager. GIL will also be disabling SFX at that time. Institutions will still need access to Voyager data for historical purposes, so GIL will continue to provide GIL Web Reports and Voyager Access reports for this purpose.

GIL Web Reports

The GIL Web Reports are password protected web pages which run queries against the Voyager databases. Every institution currently has their own instance of web reports.

GIL has made the GIL Web Reports available via alternate URLs and has set up redirects to point to these new urls. The redirect URLs should look familar, as they are the same URLs you used to access this when we were on Voyager. Use the following format:

http://[Classic GIL URL]/reports (note do not use https for these URLS)

For example: http://gil.ung.edu/reports.

Your password should be unchanged from what it was when accessing these reports while we were on Voyager. If you do not know your password, please ask others at your institution, and if needed, please create a ticket, and GIL will reset your password.

Access Reports

Ex Libris created a Microsoft Access document that allows users to run queries against Voyager databases. It is fairly difficult to set up, due to the many steps involved and the many different combinations of operating systems and MS Access versions. If you don't already have this installed, you may need to contact your local IT staff to run the install, as it requires administrative rights on your PC. It's recommended that you uninstall any previous Oracle drivers from your system before you start. Also note that if you use your workstation to connect to Banner, you will likely not be able to use Access Reports due to conflicting Oracle drivers. You may also need to contact GIL Support to have your workstation’s IP allowed through the firewall. More information including install instructions is available on the GIL Downloads page.

Note that the following institutions (who were previously hosted by GSU) will need to use special hostnames in their tnsnames.ora file. GIL has sent out an email to the institutional leads list detailing these hostnames, so please check with your instleads on this or create a ticket.
