Last Copy in Georgia

The Last Copy Georgia program is suspended until further notice.  Its future will be reviewed and determined by the library directors in the Regents' Academic Library Committee on Libraries (RACL), and their decision will be communicated at a later date. [Updated May 2023]

Last Copy in Georgia Policy [revised 2021-08-27, RACL]

Note: Last copy does not apply to LPs or VHS videos. Generally, Last Copy does not apply to microformats, except microfilm. However, if you have microformats or other nonbook formats please contact Nan McMurry, Director for Collection Development (nmcmurry@uga.edu), with a general description of what you want to withdraw.  For books, please email Nan with a list with OCLC number and brief title.

For USG Withdrawn policies, procedures, and scenarios, including Government Document discard procedures, please see the Withdrawns page.

Last Copy Alma Cloud App

Simon Hunt, UGA, and Chris Fishburn, GIL, have developed an Alma Cloud app that can be used to help determine copy status. Once the app is activated within Alma, you can scan the barcode of your item and, if you have retrieved a single result from your barcode search, click on “Primo Link.” This will search on the number contained in the 035 of the record within the scope of the USG. A benefit of using the app over searching in Alma is that the app method will not show copies that are not viewable (withdrawn items, lost items, etc.), which might help lessen some of the last copy confusion. You can search in other ways besides barcode as well, and you can also broaden your search within the widget.

Disclaimer:

Training included is generally not configuration details.  Those can be found in the Project Wiki.  Those at your institution who are Alma certified can make configuration changes required.  In many cases, crossover training will be required for certain staff.  The institution is responsible for identifying those individuals and building appropriate training.  The training list put together in this wiki is not a definitive list of all available resources, but we hope it is a list of the main concepts.
