Alma Mobile App
WHAT DOES THE MOBILE APP DO?
The Alma mobile app allows you to do processing around two basic functions: Scan In Items and Pick From Shelf.
Scan In allows you to enter barcode information with your mobile device's camera, a hand-held scanner paired with your device, or manually.
Pick Up from Shelf allows you to process holdings requests without the need for printing lists to take to the shelves with you.
SETTING UP THE ALMA MOBILE APP
Alma Mobile supports the following mobile devices:
iPhones
iPads
Android cell phones
Android tablets
Bluetooth-enabled, hand-held scanners
Download the Alma Mobile app from:
Google Play
Apple App Store
Step 1: Open the App
Three welcome pages will appear when you start the app. These pages have instructions for getting started, but you will need your institution's URL in order to authenticate.
Step 2: Set up Welcome page URL
The URL will have the following syntax, replacing "<institution code>" with your institution's code:
https://galileo-<institution_code>.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/mobile/login?institute=01GALI_<institution_code>
Examples:
Georgia State University: https://galileo-gsu.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/mobile/login?institute=01GALI_GSU
University of West Georgia: https://galileo-westga.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/mobile/login?institute=01GALI_UWG
Step 3: Choose the Authentication Method
USG institutions use the first three types of Authentication Method. On the drop-down list, choose one of the following:
Local - This is intended for 'Internal' logins and LDAP external logins.
SAML - This option uses the Security Assertion Markup Language, XML-based format, for processing authentication.
CAS - This option uses the Central Authentication Service for handling authentication.
Social Login - (not recommended) This option uses a social networking service such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ for authentication.
NOTE: Android and iOS do not provide the same experience in Step 3.
Android hides the Welcome to Alma Mobile page while you actively click on your authentication method, then click the SAVE button.
iOS displays a menu at the bottom of the page where you choose your authentication method, then click on any white space, then click the SAVE button.
You will then be redirected to your institution's login page. If you land on a generic Ex Libris login, you have not properly saved the authentication method.
Step 4: Login
enter the same credentials you use to login to Alma in a web browser.
If you experience problems properly logging in to the mobile app, submit a ServiceNow ticket with the USG.
