Maia Twentyman

Maia Twentyman has demonstrated exceptional athletic ability, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout 2024, achieving remarkable success in athletics at school, diocesan, and state levels. Her passion for sport and relentless pursuit of excellence have made her an outstanding competitor in her age group.

At her school’s Athletics Carnival, Maia showcased her versatility and dominance, winning the 100m, 200m, 800m, Long Jump, Discus, and Shot Put events, earning the title of Age Champion. Her success continued at the Western Region Athletics Championships, where she claimed first place in Discus, setting a new personal best and a championship record. Maia also won gold in Shot Put and placed third overall in her age group, demonstrating her determination and skill across multiple disciplines.

Maia’s achievements at the Wollongong Diocese Athletics Championships were equally impressive, claiming gold in both Discus and Shot Put, setting new championship records in both events and establishing herself as a standout athlete in the region. Her incredible performance at the MacKillop Athletics Championships included a gold medal in Shot Put with a personal best and a silver medal in Discus, further cementing her reputation as a top-tier competitor.

At the NSWPSSA Athletics Championships, Maia reached new heights, winning gold in the Girls 11-Year-Olds Discus with a personal best throw of 34.38 metres, surpassing her previous best of 31.44 metres. She also earned a silver medal in Shot Put, continuing her streak of excellence at the highest levels of competition. Maia’s accomplishments earned her a place at the School Sport Australia National Athletics Championships, where she finished 2nd in Discus and 6th in Shot Put.

Beyond athletics, Maia is a passionate netball player and a valued member of her local Netball District Association’s 11’s Representative Development Team. Her selection for next year’s 12’s Junior State Titles team highlights her commitment to excelling in all her sporting endeavors.
