NSWCCC Blue Award for Excellence in Athletics
Chase Grant has had an extraordinary year in athletics, demonstrating an exceptional level of dedication and talent that has earned him numerous accolades at the school, Diocesan, state, and national levels. At the Wollongong Diocese Carnival, Chase secured gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 400m events, breaking records and setting new standards of excellence. His remarkable success continued at the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Championships, where he achieved a stunning victory, claiming gold in the 100m, 200m, and 400m events. Notably, Chase shattered the long-standing 400m record with a time of 48.23 seconds, earning him the title of Age Champion.
Chase’s impressive performances did not stop there. At the New South Wales All Schools Championships, he won silver medals in both the 200m and 400m events, further solidifying his reputation as one of the state’s premier athletes. At the Australian Athletics Championships in Adelaide, Chase faced the nation's best competitors and secured silver medals in both the 400m and 4x400m relay. His performance in the 400m event, in particular, met the U20 World Junior qualifying standard, demonstrating his potential on the international stage. At the Australian All School Athletics Championships, Chase came 4th in the 200m final with a season best time of 21.21, and 4th in the 400m final with another season best time of 47.23 which is his third world junior qualifying time for this event. Despite being in a hand cast for the past four months, limiting his training, Chase showcased incredible resilience and determination, pushing through adversity to deliver an outstanding performance.
Beyond his individual success, Chase has made significant contributions to his school community at Edmund Rice College. He has represented the College in multiple sports, including Oz-tag, touch football, and rugby league, where he has consistently been a standout team member. His leadership, humility, and exemplary character have made him a role model to his peers. Chase’s involvement in the Christian Service and Solidarity Learning Program further reflects his commitment to the values of service and community.
Chase’s remarkable balance of athletic achievement, academic focus, and community involvement earned him the title of Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year and the prestigious Edmund Rice College Blue Award. As he concludes his Year 12 studies, Chase’s contributions have left an enduring impact on his school and the wider community.
