Layla Sharp
NSWCCC Blue Award for Excellence in Athletics
Layla Sharp has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication in athletics throughout 2024, achieving outstanding results. At the Parramatta Diocese carnival she performed strongly earning four gold medals and two silver medals. Her ability to consistently perform at a high level, both on the track and in field events, reflects her commitment to training and excellence. At the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Championships, Layla competed in four events and claimed gold in all of them. She excelled in the 100m, 200m, 800m, and Long Jump in the Multi Class Ambulatory category, with remarkable performances, including a time of 14.79 seconds in the 100m and a personal best of 4.09 meters in the Long Jump. Her versatility and determination across a range of events highlight her status as one of the top athletes in her field.At the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships Layla came first in the girls 17-19 years 800m with a time of 2:44.35. She further got a silver medal in the 200m, and a bronze in the 100m. This earned her a place on the NSW team. At the Australian All Schools Championships, Layla earned a bronze medal in 200m final with a season best time of 28.86. Layla also went on to compete in the 800m, placing 1st in the finals with another season best time of 2:38.00.
Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Layla has been an outstanding representative for Emmaus, participating in school debating events and serving as a mentor for younger students who aspire to follow in her footsteps.
Layla’s sportsmanship, leadership, and contributions to her school community make her a role model for her peers. She takes pride in representing Emmaus at every opportunity, inspiring others with her dedication and success.
