NSWCCC Blue Award for Excellence in Touch Football
Georgina Hayes has displayed remarkable skill, resilience, and dedication throughout 2024, establishing herself as an outstanding athlete within the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC) system. After transitioning to the CCC system this year, Georgina embraced the opportunity to represent her new community with exceptional performances across multiple sports, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to excellence.
Representing the Wagga Wagga Diocese, Georgina competed at the NSWCCC Championships, earning selection to both the U/18 Girls Touch Football team and the U/16 Girls Rugby 7s team. At the National Youth Championships for touch football, Georgina emerged as a standout player despite her young age. Competing in the middle against older, more experienced opponents, she showcased her technical proficiency, tireless work ethic, and ability to dominate the ruck in both attack and defense. Her leadership and composure in critical moments were instrumental in guiding her team to the semi-finals.
Georgina’s talent in rugby 7s also shone brightly. Representing the NSWCCC U16 Girls Rugby 7s team at the National Championships, she earned selection to the U16 Girls Australian Merit Team and the U/18 Girls Australian Rugby 7s Squad. These achievements highlight her ability to excel across different sports, underscoring her adaptability and athleticism.
Georgina’s commitment extends beyond the field. She also represents the Wagga Wagga region in both junior and senior representative touch football and is a member of the prestigious NSW Emerging Blues U20 State of Origin squad. Her achievements in 2024 emphasize her exceptional talent, determination, and ability to rise to the occasion, even in the face of injury challenges.
