NSWCCC Blue Award for Excellence in Hockey
Summer Knowles has had an outstanding year, showcasing exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication in hockey. Her journey began at the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges trials in Bathurst, where she earned a place on the U15 Girls Hockey Team. Summer’s commitment and talent were further recognised at the NSW All Schools trials, where her remarkable game awareness and strength secured her position in the NSW All Schools U15 Girls team.
As vice-captain of the NSW All Schools team, Summer led by example at the School Sport Australia Games on the Gold Coast. Her unwavering dedication to the team’s success was evident in her willingness to take on any role or position assigned to her. Summer’s ability to accept feedback and her tireless work ethic inspired her teammates, contributing significantly to the team’s cohesive performance. Under her leadership, NSW earned a bronze medal, and Summer’s exceptional individual performance was recognised with her selection in the prestigious All-Australian Merit Team.
Summer’s achievements this year are a testament to her dedication, resilience, and passion for hockey. She consistently displayed sportsmanship and a team-first mentality, qualities that set her apart as a remarkable athlete. Her coaches have commended her ability to execute game plans with precision and her relentless determination to see her team succeed.
Off the field, Summer embodies the values of leadership and humility, inspiring her peers and representing her school and diocese with distinction. Her selection in the All-Australian Team is a direct reflection of her hard work and immense talent. Summer is a truly deserving recipient of the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Blue Award for Hockey in 2024.
