Selesitino Mainakavika has had an extraordinary year in Rugby Union, emerging as a rising star with his exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. Originally from Suva, Fiji, where he played for the Marist Brothers High School Under 14 and 15 teams, Selesitino brought his passion and talent to Australian rugby, making a significant impact in 2024.
Selesitino’s achievements include representing the Dubbo Junior Rugby Union Club, where he was honoured with accolades such as Under 16 Blues Best & Fairest and Dubbo Junior Rugby Club Rep Player of the Year. His impressive performances on the field led to selections for the Central West Rugby team, the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Under 16s Rugby Union team, and the NSW Country Under 16 team, where he was named Best Player. Selesitino’s consistent excellence culminated in his selection for the prestigious NSW Waratahs Under 16 team, where he has been a standout player. Most recently, he earned a place on the Australian Under 16 Rugby Union team, a remarkable accomplishment that highlights his immense talent and hard work.
Selesitino’s contributions extend beyond individual accolades; he has proven to be a leader and role model both on and off the field. During the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Rugby Union U16s All Schools tournament, he demonstrated maturity, resilience, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials. His humility and sportsmanship have inspired others and reinforced his commitment to the core values of rugby.
A multifaceted athlete, Selesitino has also represented his college in rugby league and athletics, showcasing his versatility and dedication to sport.
