NSWCCC Blue Award for Excellence in Athletics
Catherine Mikan is an exceptional athlete and a dedicated member of her school community. In 2024, Catherine achieved remarkable success in athletics, earning three gold medals in the 100m Hurdles, High Jump, and Triple Jump, as well as a silver medal in Long Jump, at the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Championships. Her outstanding performances earned her the title of 16 Years Girls Age Champion and solidified her position as one of the top athletes in her age group. At the New South Wales All Schools Athletics Championships, Catherine further demonstrated her excellence, earning silver medals in the 100m Hurdles and High Jump, and bronze in the 400m Hurdles and Triple Jump. These results secured her a spot at the Australian All Schools Championships in Brisbane, where she competed in the U17 100m hurdles, coming in 5th place. She also competed in the High Jump, clearing a height of 1.64m and placing 4th.
Catherine's talents extend beyond athletics. She represents her school in Swimming at CGSSSA and New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges levels and competes in Interschool Snowsports, showcasing her versatility and commitment to sport. As a valued member of the school community, Catherine’s dedication to academics is equally impressive. Her consistent performance across subjects such as Mathematics Standard, Indonesian, and Design and Technology highlights her hardworking and diligent nature.
Catherine is also a role model in community service, contributing her time and skills as a coach for Athletics and through initiatives like baking for the Alfresco Community Kitchen. Her enthusiasm and house spirit are evident in her participation in House Plays and other school events.
Catherine’s outstanding achievements in sport, her academic excellence, and her commitment to community service make her an exemplary student and a worthy recipient of the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Blue Award for Athletics.
