NSWCCC Blue Award for Excellence in Softball
Milla Durnell has had an extraordinary year in softball, marked by remarkable achievements and an unwavering dedication to her sport. Representing NSW All Schools at the national championships, Milla played a pivotal role in her team’s gold medal victory against Queensland. Her exceptional performances on the field earned her a well-deserved place in the Australian All Schools Merit Team, solidifying her status as one of the sport’s rising stars.
In addition to her success at the school level, Milla represented Australia in the U18 World Cup Qualifier in Dallas, Texas, where she was named team captain. Under her leadership, the team secured an impressive fourth-place finish on the world stage. Milla also guided NSW to defend their title at the U18 Nationals, helping her team claim another gold medal. Her stellar fielding average of .952, batting average of .333, and on-base average of .667 highlight her consistent contributions both defensively and offensively.
Milla’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the field. She has been an inspiring leader and role model within her school community, serving as a Year 12 House Captain and actively participating in initiatives such as R U OK Day, Harmony Day, and Vinnies. Her dedication to fostering school spirit and mentoring younger students through internal sports activities reflects her commitment to teamwork, leadership, and service.
As Milla prepares to represent Australia once again in Brisbane against China, her passion for the game and relentless pursuit of excellence continue to set her apart. Her sportsmanship, leadership, and remarkable achievements make her a deserving recipient of the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Blue Award for 2024.
