NSWCCC Bar Award for Excellence in Water Polo
Indiana Smith has had a phenomenal year, solidifying her place as one of the most talented water polo players in the country. Representing the Australian U18 Women’s Team at the World Championships in Chengdu, China, Indiana showcased her incredible skill and tenacity, helping the team achieve an impressive 5th place. Her dedication and performance earned her a spot on the Australian U18 team for 2025, further highlighting her elite status in the sport.
Indiana’s leadership and influence extend to both the state and school levels. As captain of the NSWCCC Water Polo Team, she led her team to success in the Tri-Series Tournament, where she was named Tournament MVP and the highest goal scorer in both 2023 and 2024. Her remarkable consistency also earned her recognition as one of the tournament’s top seven players in consecutive years. Known for her attacking prowess and ability to play a critical defensive role as center-back, Indiana’s versatility remains a key asset to her teams.
In addition to her stellar representative achievements, Indiana has demonstrated unwavering commitment to her school, Loreto Kirribilli. As Water Polo Captain, she has mentored younger players, boosting the sport’s profile within the school community. Her contributions extend beyond water polo, as she has participated in school swimming and athletics, consistently showcasing her all-around athleticism.
Indiana also balances her rigorous training schedule with community involvement, mentoring Year 7 students and volunteering at initiatives such as "Our Big Kitchen" in Bondi. Her commitment to both sport and community exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding leader.
