Talika Irvine
NSWCCC Bar Award for Excellence in Swimming
Talika Irvine has demonstrated extraordinary dedication and skill in swimming throughout 2024, earning recognition at the highest levels of competition. Representing St John’s Nowra, Talika excelled at the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges, NSW All Schools, and School Sport Australia Championships, consistently securing podium finishes across multiple events. Her leadership and sportsmanship were further recognised when she was named Captain of the NSW All Schools Swimming Team, a testament to her exceptional character and ability to inspire others.
At the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Championships, Talika earned gold in the 200m Individual Medley (IM), along with bronze in both the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events. At the NSW All Schools Championships, she delivered standout performances, winning gold in the 200m and 400m IM events and bronze in the 200m Backstroke. Her success continued at the School Sport Australia Championships, where she secured silver in the 400m IM and bronze in both the 200m IM and 200m Backstroke.
Talika’s accomplishments reflect not only her technical excellence in the pool but also her consistent dedication and perseverance. Her ability to balance a demanding training schedule with academic commitments is exemplary. As a leader, Talika fosters a positive and supportive environment for her teammates, motivating them to reach their potential while demonstrating humility and grace.
In addition to her competitive success, Talika was awarded the prestigious Terry White Trophy at the Wollongong Diocese Awards, recognising her contributions to the sport and her school community. Talika also represented her school and state with distinction at the 2024 Olympic Trials, competing alongside Australia’s elite swimmers.
Talika Irvine embodies the values of dedication, resilience, and sportsmanship, making her a deserving recipient of the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Blue Award for 2024.
